My family has been in Cache Valley since 1881.
DEEP ROOTS
My name is David William Cook. A heritage of Swiss and German immigrants working at Temple Fork sawmill and English immigrants running sheep across the mountains of Paradise and Avon has ingrained in me a deep love for this place we call home. I was born in Logan, Utah and have lived here most of my life.My father, Bruce Cook, founded his own tax practice in Logan in 1977. I grew up learning from him and stuffing envelopes at his office during tax season. After serving an LDS mission to Ukraine I eventually found my own path to tax accounting. I graduated from Utah State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting degree and from the University of Texas at Austin with a Master in Professional Accounting degree.I began my career working for Deloitte in London, England specializing in taxation of hedge funds, private equity funds, and real estate funds. My road would eventually lead back home to Cache Valley where I gained additional experience with tax compliance and financial accounting for both small and large businesses while working with a regional public accounting firm.I spent some time in industry accounting preparing financial statements and performing comptroller duties for SAL Management Group and its assets across the southwest United States. Eventually I partnered with my two brothers to open our very own independent retail pharmacy, Cook Brothers Pharmacy, where I currently serve as part-owner and CFO. Each of the stepping stones in my career has given me a broad range of experience. I have a firsthand understanding of the needs of small startup businesses as well as the rigid requirements and quality demanded by multi-national investment vehicles. I have experience with small, seemingly mundane tasks like payroll and quarterly returns as well as preparation of large partnership and corporate income tax returns. I work remotely, no in-person appointment is necessary. I take on a limited number of clients in order to devote more care to each one. I personally respond to phone calls, text messages and emails during business hours. My goal is to provide a quality product at a fair price. Whether you require a comprehensive range of services or a simple individual tax return, my billing is negotiable to fit your needs. My father built his firm by taking care of everyone from farmers to doctors without pricing them out of his services. I aim to follow his legacy.Away from work, I have spent many years coaching basketball locally and can often be found playing pickup. If I am not playing basketball I am probably lost somewhere on the golf course trying (hopelessly) to get my handicap lower than 30.
